Flying The US Capitol Christmas Tree - another first for aerial cinematography

Standing 88 feet tall and weighing in at 13,000 pounds, the US Capitol Christmas Tree was cut on Oct 28th, 2014. This year's tree came form the Chippewa National Forest in north central Minnesota, and almost 500 people were present to witness the tree cutting ceremony.

The tree will spend 19 days on the road and travel about 2500 miles before it's installed on the front lawn of the US Capitol. The weather was cool, calm and overcast. All the planning and prepping made for another successful day in the air.

North Star Aerial has been part of many great projects this year and we were honored to be part of this momentous occasion. We would like to thank the great production team at Lifetouch Media Productions, The US Forest Service and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.

Fast paced, full service production from the ground to the sky!

We recently worked with the awesome production team at Life Touch Media Productions to help create this high-energy 30 second spot for Augustana College/Augustana athletics!

Combined with traditional ground production, our aerial shots add tremendous value & show a different perspective of all the buzz happening on the field!  The best view of an event is the one that captures all the excitement; with aerial, you see it all."

The North Star team was happy to be a part of Lifetouch’s Picture More 2014 sales meeting. We glided right into action with our newest cinematic asset, the Movi M5. This fast paced week long extravaganza was the perfect testing grounds for this stabilized camera rig. We can’t wait to see where this camera rig takes us next!
